I am sure you know the old adage about how to build a habit...
Anyway, Matt Cutts provides wonderful examples of things accomplished and lessons learned.
really neat way of thinking: okay, I'm going to DO something for 30 days straight OR I'm going to STOP doing something for 30 days straight.
My first thing is taking a walk with my dog. Both of us want to get rid of the ring around the waist that we acquired over the winter, so I think we can really be a good source of morale for each other.
You can probably build a really good habit, accomplish something really big, or stop doing something that harms you and you might not go back to it... or at least not as strenuously as before, if you will stick to it for 30 days.
So that's my new motto: "Do" or "Stop-Doing" for 30 days.
(This will be so much easier than the purple "stop complaining" bracelet, which, btw, I totally gave up on and realized that I love to complain and I am not going to stop doing it, thank you very much.)
I am waiting until November to become a novelist though because that is an official group event and plus I'll be totally practiced up on the 30-day ritual by then.
